Kuan-Hua Chen

Kuan-Hua Chen is postdoctoral fellow at the University of California, Berkeley, under the mentorship of Dr. Robert W. Levenson. He received his B.Ed. from National Taiwan Normal University, Taiwan, M.S. from National Chengchi University, Taiwan, and Ph.D. from the University of Iowa, U.S.A. He is interested in studying emotion and social functioning in healthy and pathological aging (i.e., neurodegenerative diseases). His current projects investigate how people in close relationships are emotionally and physiologically connected to each other (e.g., exhibiting shared positive emotions and synchronization in heart rates), how these interpersonal processes change when people age, and how to best quantify these changes and understand their implications for health and well-being.
