Campus well-being efforts have traditionally been student-focused, and while students are the essential raison d'etre for higher education campuses, we must not forget that places of higher education (universities, colleges, polytechnical schools, etc) are also places of employment for staff and faculty. Staff can include a wide variety of roles, including shift work, manual labour, as well as residence staff, knowledge workers, IT professionals, financial support, senior leaders and office administrators. Faculty members work in a wide variety of disciplines across the world's domains of knowledge and research. Therefore, when we bring well-being to campus, it must be done on multiple levels, since addressing staff and faculty well-being can have positive ripple effects into the student life and educational experience as well. This presentation will highlight the programs, mindsets, efforts and early outcomes of well-being initiatives on the campus of a Canadian university, and how staff and faculty well-being are essential to student well-being and wholeness.
