Abdulla AlKaram
Dr Abdulla Al Karam is Chairman of the Boad of Directors and Director General of the Knowledge and Human Development Authority. Some people see Dr Abdulla Al Karam as a visionary leader. “Those are just words on a CV,” he says. “I’m happy to be part of something bigger than myself; to think about things that are bigger than myself.” Since he helped to establish KHDA in 2007, private education in Dubai - including early learning centres, schools, universities and training institutes - has not only improved, but thrived. The culture of the education sector has come to be characterised by its diversity, collaboration and strength-based approaches. “Our role as a government regulator is to bring our community together and focus on what’s working,” he says. “We all have something to contribute to education, and the more we give, the happier we are.”
