Eddie M. W. Tong
Associate Professor Eddie Tong works in the Department of Psychology at the National University of Singapore. He focuses on positive emotions and their behavioral, cognitive, and motivational implications. I have studied many different kinds of positive emotions, including hope, awe, and pride, but much of my current research is on gratitude, particularly how gratitude shapes responses to social forces. My work has also heavily involved appraisal theory, which has relevance for understanding the elicitation, differentiation, and consequences of emotions. Finally, I also examine how factors such as income, religion, culture, and personality impact emotional experiences and processes.
