Wellbeing literacy is how people communicate about and for wellbeing. Language affects thoughts and actions, which in turn influences wellbeing outcomes. This workshop aims to build participants knowledge and awareness of wellbeing literacy within their own personal and professional contexts. Participants will explore wellbeing literacy related practices by looking at how wellbeing is composed and comprehended in language.  Six modes of communication including listening, reading, viewing, speaking, writing and creating, will be discussed. Applied learning exercises will include exploring these texts, enabling participants to realise current intervention uses of the texts in their own settings, and designing a new intervention that features comprehending and composing texts of wellbeing literacy. In doing so, participants will be encouraged to reflect on how they can maintain and improve their own and others’ (e.g. clients, students, loved ones) wellbeing through language in their day-to-day lives.
