This interactive workshop will explore the content and practical application of the evidence-based ‘10 Keys to Happier Living’. Developed by Vanessa King for the UK-based, international social movement, Action for Happiness (AfH) this framework has inspired people around the globe to take action for their own and others’ wellbeing and has been applied in workplaces, schools, universities, design schools, communities and in healthcare settings.
The 10 Keys to Happier Living are rigorously evidenced-based synthesising 1000’s of academic studies and meta-reviews on the areas most in peoples’ control to take action to enhance flourishing. They incorporate established definitions and theories of wellbeing (Ryff, 1989; Keyes, 2002; Diener, 2010; Huppert & So, 2011; Seligman, 2011; WHO, 2014) and include both hedonic and eudaimonic perspectives. Simple, practical and widely accessible they are basis of free AfH resources, a book for adults and a book for 7-11 year olds. AfH is a secular not-for-profit founded in 2011 by Professor, Lord Richard Layard, Sir Anthony Seldon and Geoff Mulgan. Its mission is to inspire action to enable flourishing, prevent mental ill-health and build social connectedness. It has a community of over 1,000,000 people from 175 countries. Its patron is His Holiness, the Dalai Lama.
