Meaning in life(MIL) has been widely recognized as a hallmark of psychological well-being and positive youth development. Yet, little empirical research exists regarding MIL among children, possibly due to a lack of proper measurement tools for this population. This study aimed to validate the Korean version of Meaning in Life in Children Questionnaire(K-MIL-CQ). Data were obtained from 277 Korean elementary school students (5th grade, aged 10-11, 55.2% male). The Korean-translated MIL-CQ(Shoshani & Russo-Netzer, 2017) and a selection of psychological and social well-being measures were administered. Results showed that 1) the content of domains and items were appropriate to measure MIL, 2) a three-factor model was confirmed by confirmatory factor analysis (CFI and TLI are above .92 and .93; RMSEA is below .076; SRMR is below .049), 3) higher levels of MIL were related to higher levels of life satisfaction, positive affect, self-esteem, and better social relationship (r = .670 .650, .698, and .543, respectively), 4) Cronbach’s α was .93, and 5) all items appropriately functioned to measure MIL, indicated by infit and outfit based on Rasch model of IRT. The final version of K-MIL-CQ appropriately and properly measures the construct of MIL among Korean elementary school students.
