Challenges faced by teachers in everyday school life are well-known, but little is said of their positive experiences and feelings. This study’s objective study was to analyze the correlation between satisfaction with life, positive affects, negative affects and savoring among 103 Elementary Education teachers. Teachers answered a sociodemographic questionnaire comprising the Savoring Beliefs Inventory, the Satisfaction with Life Scale and the Positive and Negative Affect Scale. As to the motives that lead them to choose the teaching profession, the majority reported identification with this work, whilst in relation to difficulties faced by teachers in their daily work, most of them complained of disrespect on the part of students and/or parents. It was found a positive correlation between savoring and satisfaction with life and a negative correlation between savoring and negative affects. The data indicate that satisfaction with life, positive and negative affects, and teachers’ ability to deal with positive aspects of life can affect their quality of life in a beneficial manner. Research needs to be done as to how length of service in this profession contributes to increased negative affects, as well as research into preventive strategies for this social group.
