The purpose of this roundtable is to (1) present the latest scientific literature and applications at the intersection of health, wellness, and positive psychology and (2) to frame a discussion about the future of research and practice in this area. The Positive Health and Wellness Division of IPPA organized a comprehensive literature review led by a team of 3 members of the leadership team along with 17 volunteers from among Division members. The objectives of the review were to identify main research findings and gaps to date, suggest future directions for research and practice, and highlight opportunities for the Division to play a role in the development of the field. The pattern of studies reviewed indicated unique contributions to life and death matters related to positive emotions, character strengths, physician wellness, spirituality, and resilience, among other areas of study. During the roundtable, we will present a framework to guide future methodological approaches and practical ways to apply positive psychology to health settings.
