Transformation Coach, Positive Psychology Practitioner, Author, and Speaker
Happiness, Well-Being, and High Performance
Roopak Desai is a Positive Psychology Practitioner (CAPP) since 2017. He participated in the first signature Habits and Happiness Program in 2012 conducted by The Institute of Advance Human Performance (IFHAP). He has been a practitioner of meditation, mindfulness, and gratitude journaling since then. He now serves as a member coach at Positive Psychology—The Science of Happiness led by Braco Pobric (Happiness Expert) and a passionate runner. Roopak’s alter ego is “MarathonForLife” runner after running helped him fight and negotiate anxiety and depression. And he shares how running is an ultimate way for practicing mindfulness meditation, which is the gateway to happiness, health, and well-being. He has so far run four full marathons, including NYC marathon twice and around eight half marathons. He recently achieved one of the achievements of a lifetime by climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. And he claims to have had the most exhilarating experience, which he owes it to mindfulness, conscious breathing pattern, and being fully present during the seven-day journey to the summit and back.
With the help of mindfulness meditation practices combined with the euphoric neural conditions that running creates, Roopak was able to retrain his own brain and alter its neural pathways, allowing him to finally overcome twenty odd years of clinical depression. His sole purpose is to make a difference in the world by helping people with their health, happiness, and well-being by spreading awareness and knowledge. Recently, he also presented as a plenary speaker in 17th World Summit on Positive Psychology and Psychotherapy, Toronto, which was attended by acclaimed presenters from over twenty-five countries and was well received with many accolades.
Roopak has eighteen-plus years of experience in information technology and currently is Associate Director in UBS, Weehawken, NJ. He has MBA in Technology Management from NJIT, MS in Chemical Engineering from IIT, Chicago and MTech from IIT, Mumbai. Roopak is happily married to his amazing wife and is the proud father of two awesome and loving kids—Aarush and Suhani. He lives in Monroe, New Jersey.
