Masaya Okamoto

Masaya Okamoto works as Researcher and Mindfulness Instructor at the Institute of Integral Wellbeing Sciences, Tecmilenio University. He is also an Instructor of various Meditative and Contemplative Practices as he started the practice of Meditation at the age of 3, Yoga at the age of 6, Qigong and Tai Chi at the age of 12. His previous academic studies include Dual International Research Fellowship in Cognitive Neuroscience and Psychology at the University of Manchester; Dual International Research Fellowship in Cognitive Psychology and Philosophy at the University of Hong Kong; and M.Sc. in Applied Positive Psychology at the University of East London. His interdisciplinary research interests broadly integrate but not limited to Contemplative Sciences (The Science of Mindfulness, Meditation, Yoga, Qigong, Tai Chi, and other contemplative practices from Wisdom Traditions), Positive Psychology (The Sciences of Wellbeing and Happiness, Character Strengths, Virtues, Planetary Flourishing, Multidimensional Model of Integral Wellbeing), Cognitive Sciences (Cognitive Neuroscience, Cognitive Psychology, Neuroplasticity), Philosophy (Philosophy of Mind, Consciousness Studies, Phenomenology, Philosophy of Happiness, Virtue Ethics), and Mind-Body Medicine (Psychoneuroimmunology, Mind-Body Therapies). He has taught and led numerous courses, workshops, teacher trainings, and retreats around the world to facilitate the practice of meditation and wellbeing based on the Science of Consciousness and Virtue.
