The purpose of the present study was to apply a intervention of using the psychological strengths in Japanese culture.

We have been intervening since 2011. These interventions were made with reference to “using signature strengths in a new way (Seligman et al, 2005)”.

In the recently, we considered cultural views of self. In European-American cultures there is a belief in the independence of self from others. By contrast, Japanese culture were emphasize the interdependence of self with others. Japanese are sensitive and susceptible to evaluations from others. Most of the above interventions were personal work. So, we added group work that participant practiced to find the PS of others to the intervention.

By introducing this group work, we succeeded in effectively raising well-being and  motivation of self and career formation by Japanese participants(Morimoto et al., 2017; Takahashi et al.,2015; 2017). In addition, the satisfaction level of participants was very high for these group works.

As a consideration we insist on the following. When conducting interventions or education targeting Japanese people, it is more effective to do intervention including experiences that are approved from others than personal work.
