Most models of leadership assume that influence lies at the heart of leadership.  If you are influential, that means you are a leader.  However, our research  has found that positive energy is more important in accounting for leadership and organizational effectiveness than is influence. This presentation summaries studies demonstrating how positive leadership practices, including positive energy, not only foster flourishing in individual employees but also foster flourishing in organizational performance as well.
