In September 2018, RAW mind coach and NSW Ambulance won an award for “Mental Health Promoting Workplace” from the NSW Mental Health Commission.

RAW (Resilience at work) mind coach is an on-line learning program designed to build psychological resilience and is tailored for NSW Ambulance staff. Proactive and preventative in nature, RAW mind coach performs a vital role in supporting staff through teaching mindfulness and a range of other essential skills and coping strategies. RAW mind coach was developed by UNSW Workplace Mental Health Research Team and the Black Dog Institute in consultation with NSW Ambulance. RAW mind coach includes ten short interactive learning sessions, a selection of guided mindfulness exercises, gamification, and a large library of resources for ongoing learning. RAW mind coach is currently being rolled out to 5000 staff in NSW Ambulance. Online learning is particularly important for the geographically disperse and mobile workforce within NSW Ambulance. RAW mind coach can be accessed on any smart device, iphone or PC.

Evaluation:

Feedback from staff is positive with 80 per cent of survey evaluation respondents stating they feel ‘confident’ or ‘much more confident’ in their ability to be well at work. Further evaluation continues. Final results available 2021.
